Building Polar Nights
How 90 snow-flocked trees, thousands of programmable lights and a carefully mapped tropical garden become a magical first step into Dazzling Nights.
How do you welcome guests with music, light, movement and excitement - while celebrating the natural beauty that is already there?
That is where the design of Polar Nights begins. The Tropical Stream Garden is one of the first immersive worlds guests encounter on their Dazzling Nights journey, so it has an important job to do: create an immediate sense of wonder and invite everyone forward.
Our designers start by imagining the entire environment - not only the pieces we will add, but the way those pieces will interact with the garden. Rich blue wash lighting reveals the lush tropical surroundings. Moving fixtures send bright white beams through the foliage. Along the path, snow-flocked Christmas trees glow with crystal-white light.
Every tree has a place
A seamless experience requires an enormous amount of careful planning. Guests should feel engaged at every step, but the layout must also respect the dense, established foliage of the Tropical Stream Garden.
Before installation begins, our design team maps the environment, measures every element coming into the space and plans exactly where each piece will live. Tree heights, bases, cables, lighting positions, sightlines and the flow of the pathway all have to work together.
From plan to programming
Digital visualizations allow the team to study the trees, pathway and moving beams together before the first piece is installed in the garden.
We want every technical aspect to disappear into the background so only the magic emerges.
The result may feel effortless when guests walk through it. Behind the scenes, it is a precisely composed environment - designed to unfold moment by moment as guests move along the path.
Built for a Florida winter
While the garden is being mapped, the trees are being manufactured specifically for Polar Nights. They will remain outdoors in Florida for more than 50 nights, so their materials, assembly and protective specifications must be selected with the full run of the show in mind.
One production detail can look surprising at first: the base may appear oversized compared with the tree. That proportion is intentional. The added height lifts the illuminated branches above existing plant life, while the sturdy construction helps keep each tree standing vertically throughout the season.
It is a practical solution that also serves the creative idea. By raising the trees into view, the snowy landscape feels fuller and more dimensional without competing with the living garden beneath it.
Not traditional Christmas lights
The trees are illuminated with bright, individually programmable LED nodes. Each node can produce an enormous range of colors and can be controlled as part of a precisely timed sequence.
For Polar Nights, they will be programmed in crystal white to extend the snowy effect across the trees. Synced to music, the light dances from tree to tree and sweeps through the Tropical Stream Garden.
The nodes may be capable of almost any color, but restraint makes this world special: pure white light, animated with purpose, set against deep blue tropical foliage.
A world made from contrast
That contrast is the heart of Polar Nights: a lush tropical garden transformed into an icy world through decor, light, movement and music. It is unexpected, a little surreal and designed to make the beginning of the Dazzling Nights journey feel genuinely magical.
